COTHAY
MANOR (5 miles) - A hidden gem, Cothay's delightful gardens are dominated
by a yew walk,. On either side are a host of small gardens divided by
the yew hedge into rooms. Wander from room to room and enjoy the different
colours, textures and scents. •
EXMOOR
(3 miles) - EXMOOR covers 265 square miles, and has three different types
of countryside - coastal, pastoral moorland and heathland. The open heath
has sheep, red deer and grouse, and was the setting for Lorna Doone. •
HESTERCOMBE
GARDENS (9 Miles) - Wander round the secret gardens from centuries
past. Start in the newly restored 18th century 'secret' landscape garden
revealing lakes , temples, and water features. Progress through the Victorian
terrace and shrubbery •
DARTMOOR
(25 miles) - England's last wilderness, Dartmoor is a National Park. The
main moor is about 1000 feet, while the tors rise to 2000 feet. In contrast
to the bracken and heather covered uplands, there are a number of charming
small villages round the edge of the moor •
